    Job Description

    The Copyright and AI Counsel serves as a subject matter expert and thought leader at Creative Commons. The role includes research, analysis, strategy development, public-facing communications, and education. Responsibilities include consulting and training, research and writing, community building, and maintaining legal tools related to copyright and AI.

    Requirements

    • Law degree from an accredited law school in the U.S. or Canada
    • Demonstrated interest and experience with artificial intelligence, copyright, and other legal issues related to digital technology and knowledge creation
    • Demonstrated ability to explain complex topics to an audience of experts and non-experts alike
    • Priority will be given to candidates with demonstrated exceptional writing skills

    Responsibilities

    • Consulting and training as a contributor to the Learning & Training team
    • Present in webinars, respond to inquiries, and help develop training content
    • Advise academic institutions, research journals, and cultural heritage institutions on open policy and practices
    • Research and analyze complex legal issues relating to copyright and AI
    • Write reports, recommendations, blog posts, and other long-form content
    • Lead the recultivation of community around copyright & policy experts
    • Create and maintain explanatory resources and documentation on CC legal tools
